These clips are terribly useful. They keep my multitool from wandering around in side my pocket, and can be removed in seconds if I want to use a holster instead. Unfortunately, the construction of them is poor. I'm now ordering my 3rd one due to the previous 2 having snapped at the upper bends. This is not from hard use, but one from hitting the floor (dropped from waist height), and the other from bumping into furniture.
For usefulness, a happy 5 stars. For durability, a measly 1 star. I'd recommend try 1. If you like/love it, go ahead and buy your 2nd one now!

I have used the Leatherman SideClip for 5+ years. The clip was probably why I used my LeatherMan so much. Without a clip, you either have to dig for your tool deep in your pocket and wear holes in your pants or wear the bulky (but good quality) pouch suplied with the tool. The clip option, which I bought for the Wave, puts the tool in the same spot my Sideclip has resided for years. It accesses easily, keeps it close to your body, keeps it discrete, and lessens the posibility of losing it. The pouch is easy to catch on anything you walk by and sticks out like a sore thumb. I have had buddies with the pouch on their belt get denied entrace to establishments/concerts because they had a "weapon". A quick hand movement over the exposed clip has enabled me to go anywhere (minus airplanes) without being hassled.

The Wave is a very handy multitool to have around, but it's a bit to heavy to sit loose in a pocket. With the pocket clip, it is much more comfortable in pocket (at least with jeans). The pocket clip positions the tool deep, as you can see from the image, the top of the tool would be flush with the edge of the pocket (or waistband).
The pocket clip doesn't interfere with use of any of the tools. I have not used the lanyard ring, but it's a good size and should be similarly handy--the built-in lanyard ring interferes with use of the scissors.

I really like the clip because I like to wear the wave on my belt at work and take it off at home.
The sheath is more of a hassle to take off.
The only problem is the clip breaks if the tool hangs up on anything.
I'm on my 3rd one but I like to carry it this way so I guess I will just keep buying more.
