The blade is awkward to open and quite stiff to move. A bit too easy to cut myself.

Be real careful opening the blade. If your thumb slips even slightly while opening the blade you'll slice right through it with the hobby blade.
No I didn't do it, but came real close. It's hard to open the blade without your thumb sliding toward the blade. I now carry it with the blade removed.
Even without the blade it's pretty useless. The screwdriver tips on the prybar claw are too thick to turn many screws. It does work great as a prybar and bottle opener...
I'd pass on this and get something else, maybe a small leatherman.

I bought one of these to cut open boxes and other menial jobs that dull my really nice pocket knife. Since then, I have bought a few spares in case I lose it so I don't have to go without one. One might be surprised how often having a small pry bar or small but rugged Phillips head screwdriver is. The replaceable exacto blade is also an awesome feature for this tool, always having a razor on you is really nice. Size is also a great thing since this tool is one half to one third the size of the replaceable razor knives I see a lot of people carry.
Opening does take some dexterity so I would not recommend to the arthritic, otherwise i would recommend this tool to everyone.

The Gerber Artifact Pocket Keychain Tool is one of those items that looks great, you really want to be great but it just doesn't live up to expectations. In fact, the Artifact is a big disappointment.
It is described as, "offering plenty of functionality in a minimalist package." Well this is not very accurate. If everything worked as designed this would be a great little tool. Lets break it down and unfortunately...tear it apart.
#11 Hobby Blade
This is a great blade and extremely sharp. The problem is that it is very difficult to open and close which will probably lead to many injuries, cuts and trips to urgent care for stitches. Too dangerous to use if you are not extremely careful and even if you are careful it is not worth the risk. Read other reviews and you will see the stories of blood pouring! Not really a quality selling point for Gerber!!!
Small and Medium Flat Drivers
Useless - to small to have any real functionality, difficult to grip and the head is too thick.
Phillips Driver
Useless - to small to have any real functionality.
Wire Stripper
Useless - to small to have any real functionality.
Pry Bar
Useless - to small to have any real functionality. There is no way to get enough leverage for this implement to work. Can be used to open cans of paint but how often is this needed unless you are a painter!
Bottle Opener
Sometimes works but you really have to work for it. Overall, pretty useless and non-functional.
Lanyard
Works great to hang your useless tool around your neck! Then again probably not a good idea as something may poke you causing an injury.
I wish this product worked as advertised but it just does not live up to the needed standards to be useful and functional. It is dangerous as too many people have been cut by the blade and the tools just don't work well. The Artifact is real disappointment from Gerber.
