This is truly a product that fits its price range. Its cheap, and does not come with any frills or features. But, it works, and is very easy to set up. For the price, its a great buy.



EXCEPT one thing. For our testing I found it annoying there was no setting to take a measurement, just a button that had to continuously be pressed for it to read RPMs. We ended up taping the button down, which worked well enough. Of course, I should have known this before I bought it.

I got this Bosch laser measure tool since our Stanley FatMax laser broke--got dropped--something to be careful about with laser optic tools. Expecting the same build quality, I realized when first seeing the Bosch that it looked much less polished than the FatMax. The rubber looks rough and the overall appearance pales in comparison with the FatMax, which has nice rubber and a shiny thick plastic body. The Bosch makes some clicking noises when taking measurements--weird at first because I never had this happen with the FatMax. Function-wise, they are almost with the same specs. The main attraction going for the Bosch is the easier to find AAA batteries compared with the 9volt type for the FatMax. It is also slightly smaller. Oh, and I dropped this little gadget from about two feet and, well, it still is working!

So far this unit is just what we were looking for at our architectural firm. The fact that is measure in metric, feet and inches or just inches is a huge factor for us, as when we survey we enter distance directly into our CAD software in inches (and fractions or an inch).



Testing it around the office, it is quick, easy to use and very accurate. Definitely better than a tape for distances over 10ft, and more accurate. The only drawback is the 130ft limit, but for the price this unit cannot be beat. Don't hesistate to get one!

The laser is strong and visible. It's small and very good looking. While some associates carry bigger, yellow, bulky things which I tested and don't seem to work as well, I am very proud of my sophisticated equipment.

I've owned one of these for years and was a little surprised to see it on Amazon's list of bought-by-you yet unrated stuff.



Quite simply, this is a great measuring tool. Very accurate, very repeatable, hasn't broke. It has saved me a lot of time.



That said, it isn't a complete replacement for a tape measure. Specifically, measuring a board. The laser beam has to bounce off of something and that board is lying flat. I solve the problem by pushing the end of the board against a wall or some similar artifice. Or I just use a tape measure.

This is a great little caliper. I am not what you would call a fine craftsman of anything but a simple hobbyist that likes to build random things. This fits my needs perfect. First impressions are the most important. In the case of this digital caliper, that's unfortunate.



See the two attached images showing the entire Owner's Manual. It consists of one page printed on front and back and is for a different caliper. One image shows 2 screws on the front of the battery compartment. On the actual digital caliper, the screws are located on the back, side by side. The deep-well screw is for the battery compartment. The shallow-well screw removes the wheel and retainer. The Owner's Manual does not show this. Also, the battery inserts the same as in most watches with the positive (+) side facing out. This information is not included with this caliper, but it has been with every other quality digital precision instrument I've ever purchased.



The impressive product description on the product-information page sold me. However, none of this enticing product information is included with this caliper. No where on this caliper or in the Owner's Manual do the words Titanium or Stainless Steel appear.



I have two quality dial calipers. Both have "Hardened Stainless Steel" engraved into the metal just like the caliper pictured in the Owner's Manual.



With this digital caliper, it is left up to the consumer to completely trust all of the information listed on the Amazon.Com product page. In the past, I have found the product descriptions of other items made in China not to be entirely correct. I like to see important features like high-quality metal either embossed, engraved or included in writing along with the product.



The next thing I noticed was what seemed to be a slight bow in the scale bar. I measured it to be .050" or 1.27mm along the length of the scale. Luckily, it did not affect the accuracy or the movement of the slide bar. This suspected flaw might very well be designed into the tool for some unknown reason, but I seriously doubt it.



My other dial calipers are perfectly straight.



I tested the accuracy using brass objects of known dimensions and also against my dial calipers. All were in harmony. This caliper is accurate. It feels solid and is polished. The only blemishes and nicks I found were on the ridges of the deep well housing of the battery screw.



The plastic snap-shut case is durable and the shaped-foam interior affords adequate protection.



I will get good use out of this instrument. In many of my projects like reloading or clock work, I double check every measurement using two different calipers. Accuracy is the most important feature, however, this caliper is not 5-star precision quality.

I did have to adjust the battery contacts because the caliper would intermittently shut off while I was using it. A quick bend of the contact and it now works perfectly.

This is not Starret or Mitutoyo...it's made in China. No fancy polish...just a simple accurate tool easy to use. Vendor is darned good on price and shipping. If you lose it on job you won't be crying...just buy another one. Handy size for legnth/width and depth measurements. The jaw allows internal/external measurments of round objects like pipe and tubing. The projecting rod allows depth and height measurements like setting a circular saw blade. For the price, repetitive accuracy is excellent per zero set for the reloader checking case legnth. Most precision measurements don't require beyond six inches so this tool is pocketable (IF you don't drop it.) Tools like this do not come with a 'standard' as they are not field calibrational... what you do is keep a piece of steel around that you recorded measurement AFTER ZERO to track. Toss your micrometers and dial calipers away unless your building spaceships for NASA requiring traceable NIS history.

I just got this today as an Xmas present. I also got a feeler guage set too.

First impression was that the caliper seemed well built. Not cheap feeling or looking at all. Doesn't look or feel like a $10 caliper. I tested its accuarcy using the feeler guage set.

.025-.010 was perfect.

.008-.005 was off by .001

Past that, the caliper was unusable, but that level of performance still far exceeds my needs and expectations. Anyone that needs a caliper to measure something smaller than .005 needs to spend more than $10. I use mine primarily to measure brake components, set up guitars, and calibrate power tools. This caliper is MORE than capable of these functions. I'm 100% satisfied.

I've had this scope for a week and put it to the test. The view is clean and focused and in color from about 2 inches in and slowly goes out of focus at about 5 inches, although you can distinguish items from further. I could see a cigarette package - probably left by a contractor 35 years ago - about 18 inches down a heating duct and could read the tax label about 2 inches away from it. There is no distortion of the view. Battery life seems good - shuts itself off after 5 minutes. Only takes just a few seconds to restart. Yes it is a challenge to adjust to whatever view you see but given there aren't many inspection options, that challenge just has to be worked through. There is a mark at the end that show "up" and with a little movement I can see what I want. I have not experienced the neck and camera 'dropping' away as some reviewers have experienced. The neck is pretty tight but still flexible. I have not tried it in water other than looking down my garbage disposal.

The camera was well worth the price. I had checked several different brands that were two to three times the price but didn't do anything more than the 2300-20m. The camera came with everything that I needed and actually it paid for it's self the first time I used it. The only negative about this product is the flexible shaft is pretty stiff but this may change as time goes on.
