Lots of products out there to meet this need. Porter's unit is well built, feels solid, easy to operate, and a great entry price-point. I'm not a professional upholstery fabricator, I'm re-doing my boat upholstery and am using this unit with my Porter-Cable compressor, using 3/8" x 3/8" stainless steel staples and it's been great. And I'm confident that I could complete my job, and turn it around in near new condition on EBay and get 80-90% of my money back!



One hint, adjust the air on your gun and test staples. At the higher end of the range it'll set the staples so far that the fabric will pull out (depending on your material and base). I had to run it on the lowest setting in the recommended range, which was as low as my regulator would adjust.

Like any well made product the Porter Cable Upholstery Stapler is absolutely a delight to use. The 1" long extension is a must for anyone working on upholstery projects. Upon receiving this stapler I was using it within 10 minutes of the UPS delivery. It came with the air fitting already installed. I slapped some 1/2" staples in it and I was off working. It has a great ergonomic handle that feels great in your hand and is lightweight. My wife likes it too!



The stapler is of the high Porter-Cable expected quality. It made short work of my first project and expect many more hours of use. This tool is made for working. As fast you can pull the trigger the staples are set deep and no jamming. Recommended and the price was very reasonable.



Here it is a month later and wanted to add a couple thoughts since first purchase. First, it is working great and I am very happy.



Next, some have commented about a possible safety feature missing in that staples can be freely shot out, (no device needs to be pushed against the object being stapled first). After using it a lot, quite frankly I would find it a nuisance if there was such device. When working with fabric or some other material it would be a major impediment to have to reposition the stapler, push down and then pull the trigger. When stapling many staples with its current design you can just slide the stapler to the next position pull the trigger and move on. Much more efficient and faster.

The CRKT M16 EDC Series is great overall. I was inspired to get this because of a friend who is already a fan of the line. The knives that I've seen from CRKT are sturdy and properly constructed. Don't expect a piece or art, but if you're looking for a good knife to keep around for daily use, one that you wouldn't shed a tear over if it fell out of your pocket one day, go for one of these.



The 10KZ is a perfect fit for my hands, but for some people it might feel a little small. If you're looking for something with more heft to it, try looking for the M16-12. They don't make them anymore, but both the handle and the blade are a bit more broad.

Let me start of by saying that CRKT makes some of the best knives out there and the Kit Carson designed M-16 is a fine example of the quality you can expect from CRKT.



The blade is a 3" high-carbon Tanto-style blade with a triple-point serrated edge. The blade is surprisingly sharp right out of the box. Most knives in this price range usually require some good bit of sharpening when you first get them, but the M-16 was almost razor sharp when I got it. A few passes with a Diamond stone and it was good to go.



The Carson Flipper is really the gem feature of this knife. It allows you to flip open the knife with the speed of a switchblade. The flipper also rotates down into a blade guard position which helps to protect against finger slippage. The knife opens incredibly quickly and locks firmly into position.



The second feature I really like about this knife is the AutoLAWKS safety that is built into the knife. This is basically a red safety knob that you have to pull back in order to close the knife. This prevents the knife from accidently closing on itself. It is a great feature that adds a cool tactical feel to the knife.

The frame consists of a stainless steel liner frame with Zytel back spacers. It is all held together with Torx screws including the Teflon-plated stainless steel clip.



Zytel is basically a super dense nylon with varying amount of fiberglass added to the mix. It feels much harder than normal plastic and the folks at Dupont say Zytel is super durable and abrasion resistant, but I would a little careful if your hands are wet or covered with any type of material that could cause the knife to slip out.



My two dings for the knife are this:



They advertise the size of the knife as 4" closed and 7.125" open and this is true. What they don't mention is that the knife is only about an inch wide at the widest curve of the handle. If you are a guy like me with larger hands, it might feel a little small around the grip. On the flip side, the narrow profile of the knife allows you to carry it around in your pocket and not even notice it is there. This is a VERY comfortable knife to carry.



The other ding is one that is common to this type of folding knife. When opening quickly the internal leaf-spring that locks the blade into place can and sometimes lock into a stuck position on the upper section of the frame. This can make it extremely difficult to depress the spring to close the knife. This problem can sometimes disappear as you break the knife in so time will tell.



All in all the CRKT M-16 is an excellent knife for the money. A close competitor is the Smith & Wesson Extreme Ops Tanto, but the M-16 blows it away.

I just needed a small lockblade for everyday use at work, this does the trick. It's very light at a few ounces, has a decent size blade 3", came razor sharp, comfortable handle, and has some clever cam and lock designs that keep the knife from opening or closing when you dont want it to.



You can open it fast with one hand by pulling the top lever backward rapidly with a strong flick of your forefinger. It is not a spring assist knife but uses a cleverly placed indent and lever actuator angle. The lever can only be activated with strong pressure from a deliberately narrow angle of backward pressure to overcome the indent resistance and open the knife. It takes a bit of practice. But the advantage is You cant open with any downward or random pressure. so that greatly reduces accidental opening that plagues spring assist knives. I tried for a long time rummaging it in my pocket and poking it and squeezing it and such and that blade would not budge. Also the pocket clip is arranged knife tip down for additional safeguard.



Closing it is also a bit of practice due to the Lawks system, but once this knife is open, you do NOT have to worry about accidental closure. To close, simultaneously pull back the lawks lever with your finger and push in the liner lock with your thumb. Lawks lever swings a piece of steel between the liner lock and the handle and thus the liner lock cannot disengage from the blade.



For $20 shipped it was a great deal and definitely way better than those dangerous chinese knockoffs. And for 20 bucks I dont care if I break it or abuse it either.

This is a great all around knife. It has a double lock-blade system so it isn't going to fold up on you the way some lock-blades will. Easy one handed opening of the blade is effortless and fast. I like the tanto edge much better than a standard edge. This is a rugged and durable knife you won't be disappointed with it's performance. It is razor sharp right out of the box

This is my first every day carry (EDC) knife and I'm very pleased. Good size to weight ratio, very sharp right out the box, low cost, and very functional. The flipper is probably my favorite aspect. I was a bit leery of the plastic handles, but after a year of use they are as-new.



A few gripes: as others mentioned, the screws do tend to loosen up over time. A dab of loctite blue will take care of that. The lock was annoying at first but has grown on me. If the lock bothers you, it'd be real simple to remove with a dremel. I've scratched off the black finish quite a bit, but I actually use my knife and don't just keep it in a drawer, so this is to be expected. I'm not thrilled it's made in China, but it is high quality. The pocket clip is removable but not reversible.



Overall: great knife for the money, perfect for EDC. I keep wanting to upgrade, but I really can't justify it as this awesome knife has served me well and will continue to indefinitely.

My black and decker cordless battery charger stopped working. I was going to replace it with the same until I read a review. and, hands down, it is one of the best tool purchases I have ever made. I cut through two thicknesses of treated two by twelves (glued together) for an arbor and it truly shocked me at how easily it went through it. I bought it after attending a "Woodworking show" and they had it on display, turned on, sitting on the table and it just sat there, did not move.



The only downside, and that would not stop me from buying another, is the method of blade removal and or change. To me, it is a little cumbersome. Which, translates into four stars rather than five.



Other than that...this saw, to me, was well worth the investment.

I did a lot of research before I purchased this jig saw and most of the reviews ranked it one of the best. I have always gone by the motto, if you want a job done right, you need to have the right tools. I definitely believe that this saw falls into that category. I cut a couple of wholes in the sides of kitchen cabinets and they turned out straight and smooth. The quick change replacement feature for the blade works great! The only reason I ranked this saw a 4 and not a 5 was because it is a bit on the expensive side.

I'm a mechanic, and honstly i've had alot of screw drivers wear out prematurely - especially small tips like this. I've used it to repair the Wii nunchuks that my son broke the buttons on, and it worked perfectly. I see no reason I won't get good life out of it.
