"Did not last very long, thank goodness warranty is 2 years" 2010-02-18

I bought this in January 2009. Used it about 6 times to inflate my cars' tires, with good results. However, when I tried to use it today, I discovered that the pressure gauge had become very inaccurate and inconsistent. It would indicate a pressure of up to 140 psi. So the auto-shutoff feature, which was what attracted me to this unit initially, has become useless. I called the warranty service center, and they told me to drop off the unit and they'd mail me a new one. Hopefully I'll have better luck with the new one.

Other points I should mention:

-My unit never worked with AC power. So I have to use the 12V DC plug, which means that I have to start my cars in order to inflate the tires. Which sucks because then I have to open the garage doors to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. And if it's winter and very cold outside, that wastes energy.

-The power switch is in an awkward position.

-The valve head sometimes grips too tightly to the valve, so it doesn't release easily and sometimes bleeds quite a bit of air while trying to disconnect it.

-The cutoff pressure is set by a rotating bezel on the gauge, which protrudes from the top of the unit. I would prefer that this be recessed, or have some kind of locking mechanism, so that you could set your desired pressure and not have to worry about the bezel accidentally being turned away from that set pressure in between uses.

-The box describes the operation as quiet, but it is actually quite noisy.

The inflator I got only last me less then 2 month with 3 use on my kid's bike and it went dead on me. I call the warrenty center, gladly they replace it right of way. Not sure if the replacement will go dean in 3 use again or less then 2 month.

I bought this little machine because I believed it to be very handy, but was anything but. The cord to plug into the wall was way to short. When I tried to use the cigarette light to plug in, it would not even come on. I tried useing the wall outlet with extention cord but unit would not work. I was able to inflate a basktball first before it quit. Shipped it back. Amazon was very good about this and made it a pleasure. As far as the inflator, search for something else.Air pump

"Works Great, Shuts Off When Done" 2010-02-15
By LordBuck! (Pennsylvania, USA)
I'm giving this item 4 out of 5 stars because the first one was defective, and because of a few cosmetic/ergonomic drawbacks. Amazon replaced the defective unit quickly, and without any hassle or extra charges. The second unit works great. I especially like how it shuts off after it reaches the pressure that you have preset. The three drawbacks are: The power switch is in an odd, hard to reach place. The short AC cord just gets in the way - I only use the DC adapter to power it from the car. And the compartment to store the DC cord is too small to cram it in, so I just wrap the cord around the charger. But functionally, it is great. I would recommend it to a friend.

"Wow! This thing's going back" 2010-02-14

I agree with most of the positive reviews of this product: relatively quiet, easy to use and I like the auto-off feature. The one big drawback is that the clamp at the end of the air hose is made from 100% plastic. I tried multiple times to inflate two tires on two different cars with different tire brands and I could not get the clamp to release from the tire stem without pulling with all my might. I lost probably 3-4 pounds PSI each time I tried to release the clamp and worried I would damage the tire stem each time. I'll go to the gas station before I use this pump. I'm sending it back.
