Powerful Motor, Variable Speed, and Depth Adjustment for Precise ResultsThe PR20EVSK owes its robust performance to a 1.0-horsepower (the highest rating for small routers), 5.7-amp motor that spins at a variable speed of 16,000 to 35,000 RPM and has a soft-start that reduces startup torque. Additionally, depth adjustment is simple with the PR20EVSK: just align and lower the motor and then lock the router in position with the clamping level. Micro-fine adjustments are equally effortless thanks to the wheel on the back of the router's base.
To help you match the correct speed to the job, the included instruction manual features a chart showing the speed of each dial position, along with a list of the routing tasks that each setting may be used for.
User-Friendly Features for Flexibility, Comfort, and Reliability
This user-friendly tool offers simple, straightforward operation. First, the collect accepts standard 1/4-inch bits to give you job flexibility, with an impressive maximum diameter of 1-5/16 inch. Also, there's a spindle lock on the router's front, so you can make quick bit changes with just one wrench.
In addition, the speed dial is conveniently mounted on top of the tool body for easy access. An added bonus, the motor housing has a palm-shaped, rubber over-molded grip that allows for stable, one-handed operation. Finally, weighing about three pounds, the PR20EVSK offers a surprisingly rugged aluminum fixed base that's durable, solid, and reliable.
Constant Response Circuitry for Stable Motor Speed
This model includes Bosch's "Constant Response" circuitry, which monitors and maintains speed under load for consistent performance and overload protection. Constant Response works by detecting tough loads and then increasing power to maintain the selected RPM. Working with stable speed lets you concentrate on controlling the router, so you'll always make clean, burn-free cuts.
Additionally, a quick-clamp system allows the motor to be easily adjusted and moved from base to base. For further convenience, an angled cord exit keeps the router's cord safely out of your work area.
The PR20EVSK comes with a one-year warranty.

"Palm Router" 2010-01-30
By Amateur Woodworker (Omaha, NE United States)
Bought two routers. one for my son-in-law and one for myself. I'm very please with the weight, balance and power of the unit. I've hogged out blocks of wood for solid picture frame, used a straight bit to level up over hangs and done 1/8 and 1/4 inch round overs. The slow start up is great, otherwise it would torque right out of your hand. adjustments are quick and easy. The manufacturer supplies two wrenches, one to turn the lock nut, and one to hold the shaft. This was a deficiency noted in previous comments. I've another request, add some kind of extension to keep bobblers like me from tilting the motor when in use. no matter how I grip the motor, I usually manage to wobble the motor, leaving gouges and burn marks.
"A love hate relationship" 2010-01-23

I bought one of these in a kit with several attachments about three years ago. I have two big Porter Cable routers mounted in tables and use three different hand held Bosch routers for almost everything else. I love the Bosch routers and when it came time for me to buy a smaller router the Colt was at the top of my list. One of the attachments broke on its first use and I discovered only the router is covered under the warranty. Not long after the router was out of warranty the spindle lock stopped working forcing me to grind down an old wrench so that I could hold the spindle to remove bits. I have also had the height slip and I have the collar as tight as I can adjust it and still change the depth. While the feel and power of this router is great the other problems led me to a score of three. Fortunately my larger Bosch routers are so wonderful that I do not have to reach for this router too often.
"Great Router!" 2010-01-11

I bought this based on its highest rating from many websites. It works great have no regrets. there is a one things I would like to point out: The variable speed is VERY useful, unlike some have said. Have it for just a day only but I LOVE it!
"An evolving router" 2010-01-04
By R. Stanley
It was interesting to read these reviews after I bought this router. Bosch seems to have decided to address the common complaint that the spindle lock button doesn't work by now *supplying* the wrench they recommend as the kludge-fix for the collet problem. I guess that's an improvement? I also notice that many users complain that bits have a tendency to slip in the collet, which led to me to wonder whether Bosch didn't reengineer the collet to tighten it up to the point where *you can't get it to accept a bit*. At least that was my experience. Loosen the thing all the way and it's still too tight for a bit. In the end I stuck the tapered part of a nail set into the collet and tapped on it lightly to force it open a little wider. This worked! A 1/4" bit fits snugly now.
The whole experience led to me entertain serious doubts about the quality of this thing, but after using it for several hours to flush-trim some shelf edges, I have to admit it's a nice tool that works well. Nice soft start, good weight and balance. I haven't tried out all the bells and whistles yet but will update this review with any further problems I encounter.
"No-slip, extra wrench" 2009-12-28
By J. L. Maddock (Wolfeboro, NH United States)
OK, one reviewer says the motor slipped in the base. When I turn the motor to the lock position (so the small increment dial wheel is engaged) it has never slipped.
Bosch included an extra/smaller wrench to assist in loosening the colet. I haven't needed it, so perhaps they have fixed the push button spindle lock (or maybe my thumb is extra strong).
This little router allows a deft touch and you don't have to be a weight lifter when hinge mortising installed door frames. I's my go-to router for almost everything except in my router table were I use a 15 amp plunge router.
This is a great buy for any serious woodworker (I own 4 routers), and would make a nice router for an ocassional DIY.
Highly recommended.
