Why the Autoloader?
Featuring an award-winning, patented design, the Autoloader is incredibly easy to use. Its zero-contact bit change mechanics let you quickly find the right bit for the job, and the anti-roll handle fits comfortably in your hand. And thanks to its high-grade metal component construction, the Classic Autoloader meets or exceeds ANSI (American National Standards Institute) specifications and can withstand up to 150 pounds of torque.
Two Screwdrivers to Fit Any Purpose
The Autoloader 52-Piece Combo Set comes with a Classic Autoloader for most screw types and a Precision Autoloader for finer work, including eyeglass, jewelry, watch, and electronics repair. Both the Classic and the Precision screwdriver hold up to six bits at once, making it quick and easy to switch between different sizes of flathead, Phillips, Torx, or other bit types. For further convenience, each bit features a magnetic tip to keep you from dropping or losing screws.
To load a different bit, simply pull back on the handle of your Autoloader, rotate the handle until you locate the bit you want, and push the handle back into place. You'll never be caught wishing you had a different screwdriver in your hand.
The patented pump-action design makes for quick and easy bit changes. View larger. |
Customize Your Screwdriver
If you consistently work with the same type of hardware and screw heads, you can customize the Autoloader to fit your needs. Simply preload the six bits you know you'll be using, slip the screwdriver in your pocket or toolkit, and stop worrying about hunting down a different screwdriver for each new task.

With all of my miscellaneous tools unorganized & dumped in a toolbox, this is a nice set that's easy to keep together in one place and handy in an emergency. The bits are on the cheap side, but this shouldn't deter one from purchasing this set. It was especially nice to have the necessary bits already loaded one day when I was taking down old blind brackets. There were two different screws and I needed different bits, and the autoloader made it painless to switch on the fly, rather than get off my little ladder and sift through the toolbox. I haven't needed to use the flashlight, but for testing purposes I gave it a try. It was cute, but for some reason I found it awkward and it kind of got in my way when switching bits. Needing some light and not having to switch bits might be a plus in the long run; I'll have to test further.

Just a gadget - not a practical or professional tool. It jammed - inserting two bits in one slot and mis-loading an internal spring part of the mechanism. Also no instructions included for changing bits or re-setting mechanism. Returned for credit - a smooth and simple process with Amazon.

The Autoloader is close to 'the best' anyone who does not consider him/herself a 'professional' can hope for when it comes to screwdriver convenience. Yet, there are quite a few frustrating issues that should make the buying decision more difficult than it should be and I will discuss them below.
Briefly, with the Autoloader you get 2 quite decent screwdrivers - not the best but definitely 'decent', one that works with 1" bits, called 'classic' and a smaller 'precision' screwdriver using 5/32" bits. Each comes with 6 bits already loaded and there are additional bits on the side for a total of 48. In addition, there is a 3-LED 'UFO' light that can be attached to either screwdriver to provide light when operating in dark areas. All comes inside a zippered nylon case (blue or pink).
I will begin with the 'specs', followed by my 'bad' observations which will be followed by the 'good' section, followed by my own, subjective evaluation.
WHAT YOU GET (in detail)
- Zippered nylon case
- 3-LED 'UFO' tool light
- 6-in-1 Classic Autoloading Screwdriver with the following loaded bits:
-- Slotted 1/8", 3/16", 1/4"
-- Phillips: PH1, PH2, PH3
- 6-in-1 Precision Autoloading Screwdriver with the following loaded bits:
-- Slotted: 5/32", 1/8", 3/32"
-- Phillips: PH0, PH00, PH000
- All 1" bits:
-- Phillips: PH0, PH1, PH2, PH3
-- Robertson (square): R1, R2, R3
-- Slotted: 1/4", 3/16", 1/8"
-- Hex: H3/16", H5/32", H9/64", H1/8", H7/64", H3/32", H5/64"
-- Torx: T40, T30, T27, T25, T20, T15, T10
- All 5/32" bits:
-- Phillips: PH1, PH0, PH00, PH000
-- Slotted: 5/32", 1/8", 5/64", 1/16"
-- Robertson (square): R1, R0
-- Torx: T8, T6
THE BAD
- Hard plastic packaging makes it hard to extract contents. Seriously, be careful or the sharp plastic edges may hurt you as you cut it open.
- The hard foam that holds the screwdrivers and the bits is so tight, it can be difficult to take the screwdrivers out, especially the small one.
- In fact, the small screwdriver being placed so close to the extra bits, you MUST be careful when taking it out or the bits will hurt you.
- The extra bits are held so tight by the foam base, you can't always get them out with you bare fingers - consider a plier but be careful because some of the smaller ones could break.
- No documentation on how to replaced the UFO's battery.
THE GOOD
- 48 bits - this is a lot. I'm not a heavy user but, so far, I couldn't find one screw this set could not handle and I can't think of one other than maybe the near-microscopic ones you find in eyeglasses.
- The case - this is a big plus, keeping everything together and, I must admit, this was the main selling point for me. We have probably a dozen or more different screwdrivers of various kinds around but we can never find the right one when we need it.
- The six-bit loader, of course. The 12 most used bits are preloaded and it's really easy to replace a bit with something else when you need it - simply pull out the existing one and push in the replacement and that's it (they are magnetic).
- The bit changing process. It takes a little practice but, once you get used to it, you can switch to one of the loaded 6 bits in seconds: pull back the handle, rotate it until the arrow points to the bit you want to use, push forward and you're done.
- The UFO light CAN come handy. It's easy to turn on, attach it to the screwdriver of make it stick to some base near your work area for as long as it's metal - it has a magnetic base.
- Solid build - it seems unlikely to break for as long as you don't apply some excessive torque.
EVALUATION
The primary function for this set is that of not being lost. With everything I need, as far as screwdrivers go, in one place, we should no longer waste valuable time looking for the right screwdriver in some of the more unlikely places when we need one. The case is large enough and visible enough (blue or pink stripes) to be easy to spot. As I stated already, I am happy with the build quality and I expect this set to last for many years if not abused.
All the shortcomings I noted above notwithstanding, I still like this set and I am happy I ordered it - see my comment to this review for some more detail.

This KR Tools "Autoloader Screwdriver Set" is a neat set that contains two drivers, a magnetic 3 LED work light, and 48 bits, all in a nice storage case. This is a good project or spare set of drivers to have on hand, but I doubt that they would be my first choice for any heavy construction jobs. Here are my observations:
Pros -
+ Works Well; the autoloaders works perfectly everytime and it is easy to preload it with the bits you will need in advance
+ Incldes A Lot of Bits; this kit has 48 bits, including Philips, Slotted, Hex, Trorx, and Robertson
+ Two Drivers Included; has the full size driver and a smaller "presision" driver
+ Handy LED Light; the set includes a 3 LED magnetic disc work light that can also be slid up the shaft of the driver
Cons -
- Cheap Bits; while plenty good enough for my needs, these bits will likely not hold up to serious heavy usage
While the list price is higher then I would likely pay for this set, it does go on sale (I got mine on a "Gold Box" sale for about 20 bucks less than the current selling price), so it can be a good value.
Recommended, but only for casual use.

Received one as a gift. Innovative design on the loading portion.
However, it is possible to push the button and pull out the base, which then drops the bits and spring.
I was using the small unit on a tight spot. The tool got stuck in a metal rail. While pulling on the handle to pull the unit out at an angle, the metal collar around the bit broke off where the magnet touches the bit. The shaft could have used some reinforcement.
For use on small hobbies, the bits seem to work fine, otherwise, this would be a 0 rating, if that were possible.
