Strong, Serrated Blade Can Be Used in All SituationsWhether you need to cut firewood, build a shelter, or slice through a seat belt, the LMF II survival knife has you covered. It was designed to adapt to a wide variety of situations, so you'll never have to worry whether you have the right knife.
Unique Buttcap Can Pierce Glass
In addition to the blade end of the knife, Gerber also gave the LMF II a unique, pointed buttcap that is made of stainless steel. This heavy end can be used to pierce glass in the event you need to egress from a helicopter or other vehicle. The buttcap features a smart design that is physically separated from the tang in order to offer shock absorption when it's used as a hammer and also to prevent electrical shock.
Smart, Versatile, Comfortable Design
The LMF II features an overmolded handle, which helps prevent hand blisters and provides a secure grip. It is also designed with lashing holes, allowing it to be converted into a spear and extending its usability. The black color keeps you inconspicuous while you are out on night-time missions.
Sheath Included with Built-In Sharpener
A low-profile sheath is included and it features a built-in carbide sharpener. The stainless steel blade can withstand a ton of abuse, but if it ever gets damaged or needs sharpening, you won't be stuck out in the open with a dull knife. The sheath facilitates movement and attaches to a belt or MOLLE vest.
Gerber's History of Ingenuity
Savvy. Moxie. Craftsmanship. Attention to detail. These are just a few of the company traits that contributed to Gerber's emergence as a world leader in outdoor gear. Joseph Gerber started Portland, Oregon's Gerber Advertising back in 1910, and one Christmas, he hired a local knife-maker to craft 25 sets of kitchen cutlery as client gifts. The knives were so popular, Mr. Gerber ultimately left his agency to launch Gerber Legendary Blades in 1939.
For more than half a century, Gerber Legendary Blades has been helping people fend for themselves. Gerber designs popular, dependable tools and knives along with other outdoor gear that helps users accomplish whatever tasks they may be faced with, promoting the lost art of self-reliance.

By Weekend Woodworker (santa fe springs, ca United States)
Hello,
Who wants to waste $68 on 5 inch knife in this economy . You can buy a Sword cheaper than that. I have 5 inch knives and paid under $20 and have used for real use many times. $68 is way too much .

Top quality knife with a really excellent sheath. Good for doing just about anything. Sharpener in sheath is functional, and will put a working edge on the blade. Very secure in it's sheath. The knife will not come out if you don't want it to. Serrations are good, and will not catch on whatever is being cut. Attachment system is convenient for attaching securely anywhere. Butt punch does all that is advertised. Extremely strong tip design. The handle really is excellent and provides grip in any condition, with or without gloves. My only complaint might be that it's heavy, but the added utility makes it worth it. Five Stars, well worth the money.
"Great knife set - sheath can be fixed" 2010-01-23

This is a very solid, functional knife that will perform well in a variety of situations. I use mine regularly on hikes and keep it in the glovebox for emergency use. Many people have commented on the difficulty of drawing this knife from its' sheath, which was a problem for me at first. I solved this minor issue by applying Armor All to the plastic lip of the sheath. This slick covering has definitely improved ease of use and functionality, while the sheath still retains the knife with no risk of slippage. Overall, a great, quality product.

I'm a hunter and camper and I have yet to think of a reason not to carry this knife on me. The blade came sharp and the feel of the knife is incredible. I have not had the need to use the glass punch or spear holes, but knowing I have that option gives me great peace of mind. Over all I'm more than happy with this product.
"Great substitute for the jaws of life." 2010-01-11

I work as a police officer and responded to a crash on a major highway. The car had overturned and the driver was trapped inside. EMS hadn't arrived and we needed to get inside to the driver. I ran back to my patrol car and got my LMF II, figuring that if it could cut an airplane fuselage and helicopter canopy and all the stuff it advertises, then I might as well give it a try. I jammed the knife as hard as I could in between the door and the frame and kicked the handle as hard as I could. Pop, it opened the door. And the knife had absolutely no marks, dings, scratches or other signs of abuse.
This is a great knife.
